Among the series of the preparatory sessions held at the
centre prior to a larger forum on the efforts exerted to
alleviate poverty, the Centre for Society Studies on the
twenty seventh on the current September in its headquarter,
in Al Riyad a discussion panel on the role of social
security. Ustaz Badr Al Deen, Manager of the Planning
Administration in the National Social Security Fund
presented a paper that defined types of social security and
the services offered as well as an account of the history of
the funds related to social security in Sudan and the
sectors they cover, and the extent of coverage and how best
to fill the gap. The discussion was managed by Dr.
Mohammed Khairy Fakiry.
The
first speaker was Dr. Salih Gibreel from the Saving Bank who
talked of the difficulty of eliminating poverty as long as
poor-quality products with no markets are financed. He was
followed by Ustaz Abd Al Salam Sir Al Khatim who pointed out
that the family is the greatest social safe guard in Sudan,
a fact that is largely overlooked by the fund Then, Ustaz
Haidar Abd Al Kareem Osman from the National Social
Insurance fund took the turn and proposed the training of
social researcher, on how to deal with beneficiaries.
Finally, the opportunity was given to the audience who took
it enthusiastically. |
