The
Centre obtained this (special) capacity of the (ECOSOC) of
the (UN) after the council's passing, in a meeting held in
New York from 18-28 July 2008, the recommendation of the
committee of non-governmental organizations for according
this capacity with 65 other organizations over the world.
The
Centre applied for obtaining this consultative capacity in
the past mid-year, and it is regarded as one of the few
Sudanese organizations which obtained this capacity in such
a short time. This is attributed by Dr. Braima, who is in
charge of external relations and human rights in the Centre,
to the Centre's activities being linked to the mission of
the UN and its aims for promoting mankind, as well as to the
clarity of the Centre's mission.
Upon receiving
this news, Ustaz/ Masha'er Al dawalab, the Director General,
expressed her happiness about this achievement which would
open doors wide for work serving the society issues in local
and international levels.
Obtaining this
capacity is deemed as a token of trust on the part of the UN
in recognition of what the Centre is achieving in serving
the aims of the UN, especially in the ECOSOC of the UN. It
is worth noting that the centre is a voluntary organization
that has been registered in the Humanitarian Aid Commission
since 2003.
